As long as you are using cloth diapers, it is very easy and economical to use cloth wipes as well. They all get washed together. Plus, you avoid all the harsh chemicals and drying ingredients that are in store bought baby wipes. Cloth wipes are thicker and clean baby better without ever getting your hands messy. After you clean the baby, just toss the wipe into the diaper pail along with the dirty diaper. Plus, just like cloth diapers, they are better for the environment. All our cloth wipes can fit into a standard store-bought baby wipe dispenser. Or you may prefer to store them dry and just wet one as you need it. Below are several recipes for making your own baby wipe solution. You can also just use plain water. Wouldn't you rather know exactly what you are wiping on your babies most sensitive areas?

I fill my wipe dispenser about 1/3 full with distilled water. Then I add a squirt of baby wash (whatever brand you prefer) a few drops of Burt's Bees Almond Oil, and 1-2 drops of tea tree oil. Mix it around, and add about a dozen wipes, or how ever many it takes to soak up the water.

I use distilled water just because we have well water that tends to be rusty. Wipes stored in distilled water also don't get that mildew smell as quickly as wipes stored in tap water can. In warm weather you may not want to make more wipes at a time than you will use in a day. Some people also just keep a container of solution and dry wipes and just wet the wipes as they need them. When you're on the go, you can bring along dry wipes and a water bottle, with a tight fitting lid, filled with wipe solution.

Other things you can use in your wipe solution if you want:

A few drops of Lavender Essential Oil
A squirt of Aloe Vera gel
Baby oil or olive oil (in place of the Burt's Bees Almond Oil)
Vinegar
